Footwear and Textile Waste Management
Waste is not the end. It is the point at which a new opportunity begins.
At GERESCAL, we design and implement a collective system for managing footwear and textile waste in a responsible, traceable, and circularity-oriented manner.
Collective Extended Producer Responsibility System
It is a system through which several producers organize themselves collectively to fulfill the obligations arising from Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and ensure the proper management of waste associated with the products placed on the market.
In the case of footwear and textiles, the regulations stipulate that producers must take responsibility for managing the waste generated by the products they market. This responsibility is based on the polluter-pays principle.
A producer may assume these obligations individually or collectively by joining an SCRAP (Collective Extended Producer Responsibility System).

We activate the value that still remains to be exploited
GERESCAL acts as a representative for its member companies and coordinates the necessary actions to enable them to fulfill their obligations under the Extended Producer Responsibility framework.
We work with authorized waste management providers to ensure the collection, storage, sorting, and subsequent recovery of footwear and textile waste, always seeking the most appropriate management option.
Control and Traceability
We oversee waste management to track its journey and foster increasingly efficient and transparent processes.
Information and Compliance
We facilitate the necessary flow of information among producers, public authorities, and other stakeholders involved in the system.
Innovation and Circularity
We drive research, innovation, and the development of new solutions that enable better and more extensive eco-design, the recovery of materials, and the retention of their value within the system.
Every piece of waste can have a new opportunity
Waste does not always have the same destination. Its management depends on its characteristics, its potential for recovery, and the technological solutions available.
That is why we work to prioritize the methods that allow us to preserve as much of the materials’ value as possible.

Management designed to unlock value
Managing waste shouldn’t just mean deciding where it ends up. It means understanding what it can contribute again.
At GERESCAL, we work to keep materials in circulation for as long as possible, coordinating their management and seeking ways to preserve their value and move toward a more efficient and circular industry.
Because circularity is something we build together. If you manufacture or sell footwear and/or textiles in Spain, you can join GERESCAL and help transform waste management into new value-creating opportunities.
